Jupiter Characteristics/Traits
Jupiter is considered as a moist, warm and male planet in Vedic astrology. Looking at its characteristics/traits/significances; it represents guru, religion, religious growth, spiritualism, spiritual growth, faith, hope, optimism, benevolence, kindness, generosity, philosophy, creativity, intelligence, intuition, divine guidance, saints, healers, holy places, teachers, preachers, advisors, astrologers and a number of other people, things and places.
Jupiter rules Kapha (water) element in body though it may not have that much control over this element as Moon does. Jupiter also represents ether element which may help natives under its strong influence achieve spiritual growth. Natives who have weak/afflicted Jupiter in their horoscopes may suffer from health issues related to respiratory tract, thyroid functions, body fat and pancreas among other issues. Hence they may suffer from diabetes, asthma, respiratory infections/allergies, nasal congestion, thyroid related problems and they may become overweight or underweight.

Taking an example, Jupiter may do well in Pisces navamsha of Uttaraphalguni within the sign of Virgo whereas it may perform poorly in Capricorn navamsha of Uttaraphalguni within the sign of Virgo. Taking another example, Jupiter may be very strong in Cancer navamsha of Punarvasu within the sign of Cancer whereas it may be strong but not very strong in Capricorn navamsha of Ashlesha within the sign of Cancer.
Affliction to Jupiter from malefic planets may result in formation of various types of defects. Among them; Guru Chandal Yoga is a prominent one. On the other hand, benefic and clean Jupiter may form good yogas in horoscope. Among them; Gaj Kesari Yoga formed by benefic Jupiter and benefic Moon in the same sign; and Hamsa Yoga formed by benefic Jupiter alone, are the prominent ones.
