Punarvasu Nakshatra

Punarvasu nakshatra is seventh among 27 nakshatras. The first three quarters of this nakshatra fall in Gemini and the fourth quarter falls in Cancer.

The literal meaning of Punarvasu is ‘to become Vasu again’. Since the Vasus possess characteristics like goodness, prosperity and genuineness; these characteristics can also be assigned to Punarvasu nakshatra. Hence Punarvasu nakshatra promotes prosperity and goodness on all levels, when the energy of this nakshatra combines with those of positive and supportive planets.

Vedic astrology assigns an arrow as the main symbol to this nakshatra and this symbol conveys many meanings. An arrow is used to strike a target and hence this symbol adds the characteristic of focusing on a target and achieving it. Before an arrow is cast, the archer needs to have a desire to use such arrow which means the desire to strike a goal. Hence Punarvasu nakshatra represents the characteristic of desire. An arrow is made with great skill and the same skill is required to strike a target with it. Hence Punarvasu nakshatra exhibits the characteristic of skill. A native may need great amount of patience in order to aim properly and he may also have to cast more than one arrow in order to strike a target. Therefore, Punarvasu nakshatra exhibits characteristics like patience and perseverance.

Since ancient times, an arrow is used not only to fight and win wars; but also to protect oneself against various types of attacks and dangers. Hence Punarvasu nakshatra exhibits the characteristic of safety. Such safety is generally enjoyed by the natives under its strong influence by virtue of some qualities or skills they possess; just like possessing arrows. An arrow represents a journey from the time it leaves the bow till it strikes the target. Hence Punarvasu nakshatra is related to journeys and travels of various types, when supported by the planets placed in it.

Looking at other symbols associated with Punarvasu nakshatra, a quiver full of arrows and a house are also used as symbols of this nakshatra. A quiver full of arrows represents safety, journey and engagement in a mission. Accordingly, these characteristics reflect through Punarvasu nakshatra. A quiver full of arrows means your defense is strong and hence you may be safe; as long as the quiver is having arrows. Warriors fill their quivers with arrows when they choose to engage in missions and such missions often need them to undertake journeys. The symbol of house or home once again represents safety. Hence safety and protection seem to be the strongest characteristics associated with Punarvasu nakshatra, through its symbols.

Vedic astrology assigns Aditi as the ruling deity of Punarvasu nakshatra. Aditi is the mother of 12 Adityas who are considered as solar deities in Indian mythology. The influence of Aditi on Punarvasu adds characteristics like motherly care and safety. Aditi is considered as a very resourceful and benevolent deity according to Indian mythology and these characteristics are exhibited through Punarvasu nakshatra.

A quiver full of arrows also indicates that the warrior has a number of resources at his disposal. Due to influence of Aditi, natives under strong influence of Punarvasu nakshatra may be kind, benevolent, caring, emotional and resourceful.

Vedic astrology assigns Jupiter as the ruling planet of Punarvasu nakshatra. Jupiter exhibits characteristics like prosperity, ethics, contentedness and care for the wellbeing of the others through this nakshatra. The first three quarters of Punarvasu nakshatra fall in Gemini ruled by Mercury whereas the fourth and final quarter of Punarvasu nakshatra falls in Cancer ruled by Moon. The influence of Mercury brings qualities like mobility, trade, business skills and communication to Punarvasu nakshatra whereas the influence of Moon brings characteristics like maternal love, kindness and care.

The fourth quarter of Punarvasu nakshatra which falls in the sign of Cancer as well as in Cancer navamsha can make the natives under its strong influence possess characteristics like kindness, benevolence, care, contentedness and other such qualities; in significant amounts.

Like always is the case, though Punarvasu exhibits a number of characteristics; different natives may embrace different characteristics and they may use them in different ways; depending on placements of various planets in this nakshatra as well as on their overall horoscopes.

It should be noted that Punarvasu nakshatra may bless the natives under its influence with good results, only when benefic planets are placed in it or when it is rising in the ascendant. Placements of malefic planets in Punarvasu nakshatra can cause various types of problems for the natives under its influence; like in case of all other nakshatras.

When working positively, Punarvasu nakshatra supports life and harmony. Therefore, natives under strong influence of this nakshatra may exhibit positive characteristics like promotion of life and society, being happy and trying to make other people happy, leading moral and spiritual lives; and many other characteristics rendered by this nakshatra. Punarvasu natives may have definitive and strong sense of ethics and they may be skilled at separating right from wrong. Therefore, they may not let much negativity build inside them.

Punarvasu natives may have good sense of reasoning and they may use this quality to choose right paths throughout their lives. Punarvasu natives may be blessed with good power of imagination and creativity. Hence they may be seen making use of it in the fields like poetry, literature, painting and acting, as well as in other creative activities which require use of these characteristics.

Punarvasu natives may be patient by nature and they may be friendly towards people around them. For this reason, these natives may be some of the safest type of natives; among all native types belonging to various nakshatras; provided the energy of this nakshatra is used positively in a horoscope. On the other hand, if the energy of Punarvasu nakshatra is used by a negative planet in a horoscope, such planet may use its characteristics for selfish purposes or it may corrupt some characteristics.

Vedic astrology also assigns characteristics like simplicity, forgiveness and honesty to Punarvasu nakshatra. As a result, natives under strong influence of this nakshatra may be simple and honest in their approach. Many Punarvasu natives are content and happy with what they have in lives and they may not run after whatever materialistic pleasures they may not have. It is interesting to note that despite their simple and content approach towards life, many Punarvasu natives are actually very prosperous and resourceful; even if they do not want all such prosperity and resourcefulness.

This is due to the inherent characteristics of Punarvasu nakshatra which may bless the natives under its strong influence with wealth, resources, safety and simplicity at the same time. Punarvasu natives may have good interest for creative pursuits. Hence many of them may engage in creative fields. Some of them may become actors, some may become singers, some may become musicians and some others may become writers/poets. Some Punarvasu natives may also engage in sports and they may especially do well in sports where some type of aiming is required. It means they may do well in archery and various types of shooting sports.

Punarvasu natives may be fond of travel and at the same time; they may love staying at homes. Hence they may represent a mixture of both these tendencies. In general, the Gemini part of this nakshatra may be more interested in travelling whereas the Cancer part may be more interested in staying at home. This characteristic may also change due to placements of various planets in it.

Among all characteristics; the ones like contentedness, care, kindness and benevolence may have prominent influence on natives under strong influence of Punarvasu nakshatra. Hence these natives may take very good care of their loved ones and they may go to any lengths to protect them. They may also be kind and generous to people in general; and they may donate generously for humanitarian causes. Punarvasu may help the natives under its influence achieve spiritual growth and this tendency may increase when suitable benefic planets are placed in it.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Punarvasu nakshatra may achieve success as astrologers, spiritual gurus, healers, psychics, tantrics, consultants, doctors, religious gurus, advisers of all kinds, poets, writers, actors, musicians, singers, teachers, preachers, sportsmen, archers, shooters, defense professionals, government officers, professionals dealing in fields like television and media, movie industry, music industry, book publishing industry, travel industry, hotel industry, aviation industry, ecommerce, social media, entertainment industry, hospitality industry and many other types of professionals.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Punarvasu is considered as a passive and movable nakshatra. It is considered as a male nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Vaishya Varna and water element to Punarvasu nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Punarvasu is Deva and the Guna assigned to it is Sattwic. Ardra Nakshatra

Ardra

Ardra nakshatra is sixth among 27 nakshatras. All four quarters of this nakshatra fall in Gemini. The literal meaning of Ardra is ‘moist’ and another close meaning of Ardra is ‘fresh’. The main symbols assigned to Ardra nakshatra are a teardrop and a diamond.

A teardrop may look like a mere drop of water but this is not so in reality. A teardrop represents the peak or culmination of an emotion where such emotion may be positive or negative. It means tears come out of our eyes when we are under extreme pain, trauma and other such troublesome emotions or they roll out when we are extremely happy. In both cases, the emotional state has reached its peak and that is when a teardrop is formed.

Looking at a diamond, it is also formed in the same way; which means it is the culmination point of carbon atoms which undergo intense heat and pressure, within the crust of earth. Therefore, both these symbols may look different and they are different in certain senses. However, they are same in the sense that both of them represent the peak or culmination of some processes or emotions.

Hence Ardra nakshatra renders characteristics like hard work, patience, strength, determination and intensity to the natives under its strong influence. It means Ardra natives may have to work hard and be strong as well as patient; in order to reach peaks in their lives; just like diamond. For this reason; Ardra natives are often seen achieving much more success during second halves of their lives; compared to the first halves.

Ardra natives generally don’t depend much on luck and they may believe in making their own destinies through their efforts. For this reason, such natives may reject their family professions or other such offers where they are supposed to run already established businesses or professions. Instead, an Ardra native may choose to start something of his own, build it up gradually, learn a lot during the process and then achieve success which is well deserved, according to him.

Since these natives may not be that much dependent on luck and they may be true believers in hard work, Ardra nakshatra may have significant impact on some of the greatest people in history. This is because a man is called great, not if he achieves success by luck but if he works hard and he keeps fighting or moving even when luck or wind is blowing against him. Hence Ardra nakshatra may produce warriors in many walks of life and these warriors may win their wars through their own courage, hard work and determination, rather than depending on luck.

A teardrop also represents the process of removing emotions which have become too much for us to handle, so that some type of balance may be restored. For instance, when you are in extreme emotional pain, the act of crying and shedding teardrops helps you relax, though such act in itself looks very troublesome or extreme. It means crying may be considered as an extreme type of act but through this act; your existence is trying to balance itself out, by getting rid of emotions which may have become too much to handle or which simply need to leave.

For this reason, the act of crying or shedding tears often happens when someone close to you dies. Through these tears, you are not only balancing your existence by getting rid of too much emotion; you are also preparing yourself for a fresh start; which means for a life without such loved one.

Therefore, the act of crying is an act of renewal and the same characteristic is exhibited by Ardra nakshatra. Hence, Ardra natives may have to undergo a number of renewals/transformations in various spheres of their lives. Though such transformations may look troublesome like the act of crying, they may end up strengthening these natives in the long run.

Due to this characteristic, Ardra natives may not get stuck at any points in their lives; no matter how important such points may be; and these natives may keep moving despite setbacks. Therefore, if you are looking at a native who has transformed a lot during his lifetime and he keeps getting better and stronger with age; he is likely to be under strong influence of Ardra nakshatra. This nakshatra is among the best ones in 27 nakshatras, when it comes to induce such personality transformations.

Ardra nakshatra is a strong energy and natives with weak horoscopes may not be able to handle it properly. Hence Ardra natives need strong Sun, Mars, Jupiter and/or Saturn in their horoscopes as otherwise, they may not be able to bear the pressure applied by such transformations and they may simply shatter.

Vedic astrology assigns Rahu as the ruling planet and lord Rudra as the ruling deity of Ardra nakshatra. Lord Rudra is the fierce form of lord Shiva, the destroyer among trinity. It is believed that whenever lord Shiva needs to get into the acts of destruction, he transforms into Rudra and engages in required acts of destruction. Here again, the characteristic of transformation is evident.

Looking at the process of destruction, it is more like the process of renewal. Just like the tears renew us, just like the transformations make us more capable of handling the future; such acts of destruction are necessary for renewal of natural elements. Looking at an example in nature, the eruption of a volcano is a troublesome and disturbing event. However, it tells that too much lava was collected in a zone and it needed to be released, like teardrops.

When such lava spreads and it solidifies, the most fertile lands are formed by it. This means such eruption of volcano helps the disturbed zone maintain its balance by throwing out excess lava and at the same time, such lava refreshes and renews the lands it falls on. Likewise, Ardra natives may undergo a number of troublesome transformations in their lives; only to benefit in the long run; provided their horoscopes are strong enough to go through such transformations.

Lordship of Rudra over Ardra nakshatra adds characteristics like being fierce yet decisive, anger, aggression, bravery, and the element of destruction. Vedic Astrology assigns Rahu as the planetary ruler of Ardra nakshatra. Rahu deals with mysteries and illusions among other things. Hence it adds characteristics like mystery, intellect, curiosity and wander-thirst to Ardra nakshatra. All quarters of Ardra nakshatra fall in Gemini which is an air sign ruled by Mercury. Hence Ardra nakshatra also exhibits characteristics like intellect, the ability to analyze as well as dissect, communication and some other characteristics.

Natives under strong influence of Ardra nakshatra may be curious and analytical by nature. They may like to get to the root of the matter and know everything in detail. Ardra natives may have the tendency to shift from one state of mind to another in a matter of seconds. Accordingly, these natives may be unpredictable at times. They may burst out in anger easily and they may scare or harm other people at times. Ardra natives may be brave and they may not be afraid of confrontations, arguments, disputes, fights or wars.

Natives under the influence of Ardra nakshatra may be keen to explore. Some of them may be very good observers having deep probing eyes which may try to scan people around them and find out what lies inside them. Ardra natives may not pay much attention to social courtesies or formalities and they may do what they like, regardless of whether the people around them approve or not. Ardra natives may not bother about public opinion and they may be independent in their approach towards life.

Ardra natives can make opponents and enemies due to their argumentative nature and non-bothering attitude towards the others. However, these natives may not bother changing themselves or trying to make peace with their opponents/enemies. Instead they may face their competitors and enemies with courage, bravery and hard work; winning in the end; in most cases.

Due to influence of lord Rudra on this nakshatra; Ardra natives may prove very difficult enemies. They may continue to engage in battles/wars for years and years; until decisive results are achieved. In the opinion of one such native; such decisive result may be the defeat of enemy or his own death. It means Ardra natives may not surrender and they may keep fighting till the end. Hence they may lose small/significant battles in a war; they may not lose the war as long as they live; since they may keep fighting. Once they are in one such situation; they may go to any lengths to eliminate the threats of their enemies or even their enemies.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Ardra nakshatra may achieve success as lawyers, scientists, analysts, researchers, explorers, revolutionaries, engineers, electricians, people dealing in computer industry and all related fields, writers, doctors, surgeons, detectives, spies, warriors, defense professionals, gangsters, weapon dealers, astrologers; professionals dealing in media industry, defence industry, medical industry, television industry, movie industry, telecom industry, internet industry, travel industry, airline industry, logistics industry and many other types of professionals.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Ardra is considered as a balanced and harsh nakshatra. It is considered as a female nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Butcher Varna and water element to Ardra nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Ardra nakshatra is Manava and the Guna assigned to it is Tamasic. It is an upward nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is Dog.

Mrigashira Nakshatra

Mrigashira nakshatra is fifth among 27 nakshatras. The first two quarters of this nakshatra fall in Taurus whereas the last two fall in Gemini. The literal translation for the name Mrigashira is ‘head of a deer’ and the main symbol assigned to this nakshatra is a deer. Sometimes, only the head of a deer is also depicted as a symbol of this nakshatra.

From the name and symbol of this nakshatra, it is easy to guess that Mrigashira nakshatra may exhibit many characteristics possessed by deer. These characteristics include shyness, timidity, playfulness, romantic behavior, fickleness, wanderlust and gentleness. Deer have a strong urge to wander and to search for new things. Accordingly, Mrigashira nakshatra also possesses this characteristic of search. This search can be for physical or materialistic pursuits or it can be search for one’s true self or soul and the search for liberation, depending on placements of various planets in this nakshatra, as well as depending on the overall horoscope of the native under consideration.

The ruling deity of this nakshatra is Moon according to Vedic Astrology. It is interesting to see the difference between qualities possessed by Mrigashira and Rohini; as Moon is the planetary ruler for Rohini whereas it is the ruling deity in case of Mrigashira nakshatra. Though Moon is a common factor between both these nakshatras, their behaviors are quite different from each other as Moon relays different sets of qualities through Rohini and Mrigashira nakshatra.

Moon relays characteristics like charm, magnetism, benevolence and prosperity through Rohini whereas it relays characteristics like Moon’s well known changeability and inconsistency through Mrigashira nakshatra. The tendency of Moon to get involved in romantic encounters every now and then is also relayed through Mrigashira nakshatra. Some other characteristics of Moon like tenderness, gentleness and sensuality are also exhibited through this nakshatra.

Vedic Astrology assigns the planetary lordship of Mrigashira nakshatra to Mars which is a fiery planet and which brings sufficient energy to Mrigashira nakshatra in order for it to carry on with its search for one thing or another. The influence of Mars on Mrigashira also introduces characteristics like argumentative nature and disaccord to this nakshatra, as Mars is considered to initiate arguments and disaccords.

The first two quarters of Mrigashira nakshatra fall in Taurus ruled by Venus whereas the last two quarters of this nakshatra fall in Gemini ruled by Mercury. Therefore, both Taurus as well as Gemini and both Venus as well as Mercury have their influences on Mrigashira nakshatra. The first half of Mrigashira nakshatra falling in Taurus exhibits characteristics like creativity and social skills due to influence of Venus. The second half of this nakshatra exhibits qualities like practical skills, calculative nature and humor due to influence of Mercury on this half of Mrigashira nakshatra.

According to scriptures of Vedic astrology, natives under strong influence of Moon in Mrigashira nakshatra are beautiful and they have good sense of humor. Such natives are usually good at social skills, they like to make new friends and extend their social circles. Mrigashira natives may have good communication skills and they may do well in conveying their points across to other people. Natives under strong influence of Mrigashira nakshatra may also perform well in debates and discussions due to influence of Mercury on this nakshatra.

However, such natives may at times be argumentative if the effect of Mars is strong on this nakshatra in their horoscopes. The Taurus part of this nakshatra may be much less argumentative than the Gemini part of this nakshatra. This is because Venus believes in getting things done through charm, diplomacy and mutual understanding. Mercury on the other hand likes to get into arguments and win them.

Mrigashira natives are generally shy in nature and they may take some time to open up to new people or relationships. However, once they start opening up, they are usually very good at holding interesting and long conversations; and keeping their company interesting. Mrigashira natives may love life and beauty in all its forms and many of them may be fond of music, singing, poetry and other such things. Characteristics like shyness and love for music may be enhanced in Taurus part of this nakshatra whereas characteristics like engaging in writings and witty conversations may be enhanced in Gemini part of this nakshatra.

Mrigashira natives may have strong desires for wandering and searching. Hence they may be fond of travel and adventures. The wanderlust may be more prominent in Gemini part of this nakshatra. These natives may have tendency to search and explore many different things and fields throughout their lives.

Though Mrigashira nakshatra exhibits a wide variety of characteristics; different natives may embrace different characteristics, depending on which planets are placed in this nakshatra as well as on their overall horoscopes. Moon gives mixed results in this nakshatra where it can be good for profession and bad for personal life and relationships; especially the ones like marriage and love. Strong influence of Moon in Mrigashira nakshatra on a native can make him have doubtful nature and such native may doubt people or things around him for no solid reasons.

This characteristic of Mrigashira natives may particularly be bad for their love affairs and marriages. This is because the natives suffering from this negative aspect of Moon in Mrigashira nakshatra may have tendencies to doubt their partners every now and then; and they may often do so without solid reasons. Such natives may keep asking for explanations from their partners like where they were, with whom they were what were they doing, and many other such questions. These questions may clearly indicate that they are suspicious about the activities and loyalties of their partners, even when there may be no obvious reasons for such doubts.

Due to such doubtful and suspicious nature, natives with Moon in Mrigashira nakshatra may face difficulties in their marriages, as their partners may find their suspicious nature too much to tolerate at times. Some of these Mrigashira natives may have to face serious problems in their marriages and love affairs by virtue of their suspicious natures. They may witness more than one failed marriage; if there are no corrective planetary energies in their horoscopes.

Moving on, Mrigashira natives generally love life and they know how to enjoy it. Hence they may be fond of physical fitness, they may take care of their dietary habits, and they may maintain exercising schedules in order to remain fit and healthy. Mrigashira natives may be some of the most health conscious type of natives among all 27 nakshatra type natives. For this reason; they may be seen living longer and healthier than many other nakshatra type natives; provided there are no strong opposing factors in their horoscopes.

Mrigashira natives generally engage in creative fields and even if their professional fields are not creative due to the rest of their horoscopes, they may introduce some creativity in such fields. For example, the office of an administrative officer under strong influence of Mrigashira nakshatra may be well organized and various items of creative arts may be found in such office. Such officer may keep coming up with creative ideas and plans to handle various matters or issues in his line of work. He may also create awareness about health and fitness among his colleagues and subordinates.

Looking at professions; natives under strong influence of Mrigashira nakshatra may achieve success as poets, romantic novelists, theatre artists, writers, singers, musicians, actors, fashion models, dancers, TV media journalists, print media journalists, bloggers, bankers, financial consultants, researchers, analysts, professionals engaging in all spheres which include beauty and glamour; designers, sportsmen, politicians, professionals dealing in airline industry, hotel industry, tour and travel industry, telecom industry, internet industry, ecommerce industry, dating and matrimonial industry, movie industry, media industry, television industry, music industry, book publishing industry and many other types of professionals.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Mrigashira is considered as a passive and tender nakshatra. It is considered as neutral in gender. Vedic astrology assigns Farmer Varna and earth element to Mrigashira nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Mrigashira is Deva and the Guna assigned to it is Tamasic. It is a level nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is female serpent.

The detailed version of this article is featured in the book ‘Nakshatras – The Journey of Soul Part-1’.

Rohini Nakshatra

Rohini nakshatra is fourth among 27 nakshatras. All four quarters of Rohini fall in Taurus. The literal meaning of the word Rohini is ‘reddish’ or ‘growing’. Vedic astrology takes the symbol of Rohini nakshatra as a cart driven by two oxen.

Lord Brahma is assigned as the ruling deity of this nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Moon as the ruling planet of Rohini nakshatra. The meaning ‘reddish’ here is used to convey passion and warmth since the colour red represents these characteristics. The second meaning ‘growing’ associates Rohini nakshatra with all types of growth and creativity. The cart and the oxen add characteristics like trade, growth and strength to this nakshatra. The influence of Lord Brahma on Rohini nakshatra adds characteristics like creativity or creation of all types to this nakshatra.

The influence of Moon combined with the influence of Taurus adds characteristics like beauty, charm, magnetism, charisma, fine taste and other traits to Rohini nakshatra. Apart from these, Rohini nakshatra exhibits characteristics like good business skills, romance, easy going nature, the ability to easily understand usefulness of material things, sexual expertise, the ability to attract opposite sex without much effort; and other characteristics. Hence Rohini nakshatra promotes creation, growth and prosperity on various levels.

It is easy to understand from these characteristics that Rohini should be a beneficial nakshatra; and so it is. Apart from that, Rohini is an easy going nakshatra which means most planets can handle and use the energy of this nakshatra, when they are benefic. Though such planets can also easily use this energy even when they are malefic; its characteristics may be used for selfish motives, and to create negativity in such cases.

Hindu mythology mentions that god Moon is married to 27 girls who rule or represent these 27 nakshatras. As the marriages happened, Moon was supposed to stay with each one of his wives for one day in a cyclic pattern. However, when Moon spent time with Rohini, he was so captivated and mesmerized by her beauty, charm and romantic as well as sexual skills that he refused to go to any other wife and he decided to stay with Rohini only. This created an imbalance in marriages as well as in the system of nakshatras.

Therefore, after the intervention of trinity, Moon agreed to visit all 27 nakshatra wives, turn by turn. However, Rohini still remains his favourite wife and that is why it is not only ruled by Moon; but Moon also finds maximum exaltation in Rohini, within the sign of Taurus. Here also, the second quarter of Rohini nakshatra, falling in Taurus navamsha renders maximum strength to Moon; and the fourth quarter falling in Cancer navamsha is also very good for Moon.

Another story says when Lord Brahma created Rohini, she was so charming and luring that the lord himself got attracted to her. Lord Brahma’s affection for Rohini reflects through the fact that he is the ruling deity of this nakshatra.

Though Rohini nakshatra is loaded with wonderful characteristics, not all the planets are able to use all these characteristics and different planets may use different characteristics, as always is the case. Placement of Sun in Rohini nakshatra may promote characteristics like creativity and trade whereas it may reduce some finer qualities of Rohini nakshatra like romance and easy going nature.

Moon may utilize most characteristics of Rohini. Hence natives under strong influence of Moon in Rohini nakshatra in the first house may be beautiful, charismatic, magnetic; skilled in business and trade, romantic, pleasure loving as well as pleasure spreading; and experts in matters of sexual arts.

When it comes to benefit from characteristic of Rohini nakshatra like beauty, charm, charisma, magnetism, romance and sexual expertise; female natives are likely to benefit from them more than male natives. This is because females are naturally capable of handling such finer characteristics. Female natives under strong influence of Rohini nakshatra may often find it easier to achieve success through beauty, charm, magnetism, charisma and creativity; especially when suitable planets team up with this nakshatra.

Rohini is generally a balanced nakshatra and it doesn’t tend to go to extremes in any sphere of life; unless this characteristic is disturbed or corrupted by the energy of an opposite type of planet or that of a negative planet. As a result, Rohini natives are generally good at drawing fine lines between different spheres of their lives and then respecting those lines. The phrase, ‘I don’t mix business with pleasure’ was very like introduced by someone under strong influence of Rohini nakshatra.

Such natives may be very good at doing business while they are at it and they may completely forget about it when they are engaged in entertainment, romance or other things. Due to this characteristic; Rohini natives may be good at maintaining relationships and they tend to do well in the field of marriage. Even when such natives may be very busy with their professions; they may find time and ways to connect to their husbands or wives; as they may value them and they may not want to lose them for money or success.

When it comes to financial matters, Rohini natives may be good at spending money to enjoy finer or the finest things in their lives. However, they may not spend too much too often as they tend to maintain balance between earnings and expenditures. Hence they may often be capable of saving money and building assets; despite being good at spending money. This element of balance may reflect in different spheres of their lives or in most spheres of their lives; depending on placements of various planets in Rohini nakshatra; as well as on the placement of one such combination in different houses of horoscope.

Placements of malefic planets in Rohini nakshatra can cause a number of problems for the native, depending on his overall horoscope. Taking an example, suppose a malefic combination of Venus and Mercury is placed in the eighth house of a horoscope in Taurus in Rohini nakshatra; and a malefic combination of retrograde Jupiter and retrograde Saturn is placed in the twelfth house in Virgo.

Among other issues, such native may face issues related to sexual orientation. The native may not be able to decide whether he or she is straight or homosexual, since the native may find both these tendencies present inside him or her. If the rest of the horoscope is also not supportive, the native may swing between being straight and homosexual till the age of 35 years or more.

Looking at professions; natives under strong influence of Rohini nakshatra may achieve success as actors, fashion models, musicians, writers, singers, dancers, directors, producers, politicians, government officers, astrologers, doctors, nutritionists, health experts, lifestyle coaches, consultants, orators, marriage consultants; businessmen or professionals dealing in hotel industry, travel industry, airline industry, fashion industry, movie industry, television industry, radio industry, media industry, music industry, matrimonial services, event management industry, agriculture field, food industry, restaurant industry, teaching, coaching, designing or training industry; and many other types of professionals.

The type of profession chosen by one such native as well as the quantum of success achieved by such native depends on the placements of various planets in Rohini nakshatra in various houses; and on his overall horoscope. For example, a native blessed by a benefic combination of exalted Moon, Venus and Saturn in the eighth house of his horoscope in Taurus, with Moon and Saturn in Rohini nakshatra and Venus in Krittika; may become a successful or very successful sex therapist or a marriage counselor; provided his overall horoscope is supportive.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Rohini is considered as a balanced and fixed nakshatra. It is considered as a female nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Shudra Varna and earth element to Rohini nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Rohini is Manava and the Guna assigned to it is Rajasic. It is an upward nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is snake.

Krittika Nakshatra

Krittika nakshatra is third among 27 nakshatras. The first quarter of Krittika falls in Aries whereas the last three quarters of this nakshatra fall in Taurus.

The literal meaning of the word Krittika is ‘one who cuts’. Its symbol is a type of sharp tool like knife, razor or axe. The ruling planet of Krittika nakshatra is Sun and the ruling deity of this nakshatra is god Agni (god of fire). Lord Kartikeya is also considered as the ruling deity of Krittika nakshatra. As represented by its name and symbol which is a sharp edged object, Krittika nakshatra possesses characteristics like sharpness, skill, expertise and the ability to cut whatever it doesn’t find useful.

The influence of god Agni adds characteristics like fire, intelligence and initiative to Krittika nakshatra. Due to a combination of characteristics like sharpness and being fiery; Krittika nakshatra can prove difficult to handle at times. Therefore, only the natives with strong and positive horoscopes are generally able to use the energies of Krittika nakshatra in the best possible manner. In case of natives with weaker or negative horoscopes; Krittika nakshatra may often become cause of concern for such natives as well as for the others. Let’s try to look into the meanings conveyed by the symbol and fire element attached to Krittika nakshatra.

Any type of sharp edged tool like knife, razor or axe is not born this way and it needs to be prepared with skill and expertise. Once such tool is prepared, significant amount of caution and skill is needed to use it as even a small mistake in its use can prove troublesome. Most sharp objects are used to remove the unwanted or waste part of something or to cut something bigger into smaller pieces so that they may prove useful in better ways.

Just like such sharp objects, caution and skill is needed in order to handle or use fire, since a small mistake with fire can result in a disaster. Combining these characteristics; it can be understood that Krittika nakshatra is a difficult to handle energy. Hence only some specific planets among navagraha may be able to make proper use of this energy, that too when such planets are benefic in horoscope as well as supported by the overall horoscope.

Natives under strong influence of Sun or Mars in Aries in Krittika nakshatra may often choose to join defense forces and they may do well or very well in them. It should be noted that lord Kartikeya was the commander of the army of gods which fought against the army of demons lead by Tarakasura. Lord Kartikeya led the gods to victory by killing Tarakasura.

Hence Krittika nakshatra has deep connection with the act of war as well as with winning wars. In the first quarter of Krittika that falls in Aries; this war is often fought on some type of physical plane, if planets supportive for such war are placed in it. However, in the remaining three quarters of Krittika nakshatra which fall in Taurus, most of these wars are generally not fought on physical planes, even if planets like Sun or Mars are present in these quarters of this nakshatra.

This happens because Aries provides perfect atmosphere for Krittika nakshatra to exhibit its warrior skills on physical plane whereas Taurus is a much subtler sign, compared to Aries. Accordingly, Taurus adds characteristics like refinement, subtleness, enjoyment, charm, elegance and many other such qualities to the quarters of Krittika nakshatra, which fall in it. Hence Krittika nakshatra in Aries is like the hot shining Sun on a hot summer day whereas Krittika nakshatra in Taurus is like the softer Sun on a cold winter day. Though the Sun is still fiery in both the cases; it becomes easier to handle and enjoy in the second case. Hence planets placed in Taurus part of Krittika nakshatra are relatively less intense whereas planets placed in Aries part of Krittika nakshatra may often become difficult to handle.

Moving on, since Sun is the planetary lord of Krittika nakshatra, it adds characteristics like intelligence, magnificence, independence, confidence and majesty to this nakshatra. Here again, different natives may benefit from different characteristics, depending on the planets placed in Krittika nakshatra, the placement of Krittika nakshatra in Aries or Taurus and depending on their overall horoscopes.

Natives under strong influence of Krittika nakshatra are generally skilled at looking through lies and weaknesses. Hence they may be natural critics. Since Krittika is a difficult to handle nakshatra; a number of such natives may end up being over-critical.

Since Krittika is a difficult to handle nakshatra, placements of malefic planets in this nakshatra can cause a number of problems for the native as well as for the mankind; depending on the overall horoscope in question. For example, if a malefic combination of Mars and Rahu forms Angarak Yoga in the first house of a horoscope in Aries where one of these planets is placed in Krittika nakshatra and another one is placed in Bharani; such combination may prove troublesome. If the planetary energies of Sun, Jupiter and Saturn are malefic, weak or corrupted; the native may become a criminal and there also; he may become a terrorist; who may kill many people during his lifetime.

For instance, if Jupiter is placed in the sixth house in Virgo, a malefic combination of Sun and retrograde Mercury is placed in the eighth house in Scorpio, Saturn is placed in the third house in Gemini in Ardra and Moon is placed in the seventh house in Libra in Chitra with Ketu, forming Grahan Yoga; the native may become a terrorist. Such native may become a terrorist or a gangster whose primary job may be to kill people for money; like a professional hitman.

The energies of Krittika and Bharani may be seriously misused in this case. The native may be skilled at the use of weapons as well as at the art of combat due to influence of Krittika nakshatra. At the same time, he may be fearless, disciplined, dutiful and unafraid of the outcomes; due to characteristics added by Bharani. Add to these, the fire given by Mars as well as Aries; and the element of corruption added by Rahu which can make the native enjoy a lot when he kills people; we have the formula for a perfect hitman or terrorist.

Since no other planetary energy in this horoscope is capable of stopping this combination; such planetary energies may rather be controlled and used by Angarak Yoga formed in the first house. The first house is the core of a horoscope and the impact of strong benefic or malefic energies in this house can dominate or even control the entire horoscope. In this case; the fire and knife given by Krittika nakshatra have fallen into wrong hands and they may be used for destructive purposes; just like the characteristics of Bharani may be misused.

This brings us to an important fact that in most cases; the energies of various nakshatras provide the abilities and these energies in themselves may be neither good nor bad. In most cases, it depends on the planets placed in such nakshatras; whether such abilities may be used for constructive purposes or for destructive purposes. In the present example, characteristics like dutifulness, discipline and fearlessness may be used by a criminal.

Hence he may be true to his duty, which means once he undertakes a mission; he is bound to accomplish it in a disciplined manner. Since he may be fearless; he may not be moved by fear of punishment or death. The same characteristics rendered to a defense personnel may serve as a blessing for society whereas they may serve as a curse when rendered to a terrorist or gangster who takes joy in killing people.

Moving on, due to their critical abilities, Krittika natives may achieve success as writers, journalists, critics, editors, teachers, coaches, judges in various types of reality shows, moderators on various platforms, actors, singers and other such professionals. The writers under strong influence of Krittika nakshatra tend to point out flaws of some systems or people whereas the singers under strong influence of Krittika nakshatra tend to sing songs which feature complaints, grudges and/or mockery of some type.

Due to characteristics like use of sharp tools; Krittika natives may achieve success as doctors, dress designers, tailors, hair stylists, chefs and many other such professionals who use sharp tools to do their jobs. Due to the fire element, Krittika natives may achieve success as defense professionals, fire fighters, chefs, welders, goldsmiths, ironsmiths, IT professionals, engineers and many other types of professionals.

Looking at professions; natives under strong influence of Krittika nakshatra may be seen practicing as police officers, army officers and other defense officers; engineers, doctors, researchers, analysts, firefighters, chefs, goldsmiths, sportsmen, singers, actors, dancers, musicians, architects, designers, beauticians, hair dressers, writers, journalists, columnists, bloggers, editors, critics, moderators, politicians, government officers, judges, administrative officers, revenue officers, teachers, coaches, trainers, businessmen dealing in food industry, hotel industry, travel industry, hospitality industry, restaurant industry, pharmaceutical industry, movie industry, fashion industry; and many other types of professionals; depending on their overall horoscopes.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Krittika is considered as an active and mixed nakshatra. It is considered as a female nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Brahman Varna and earth element to Krittika nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Krittika is Rakshasa and the Guna assigned to it is Rajasic. It is a downward nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is sheep.

Bharani Nakshatra

Bharani nakshatra is second among 27 nakshatras. All four quarters of Bharani fall in Aries. The literal meaning of the word Bharani is ‘bearing’ or ‘one who bears’. Vedic astrology assigns vagina as the main symbol of Bharani nakshatra.

The symbol helps in finding relevant meanings of the name given to Bharani. A female bears a child and this process begins from vagina. The female then holds and nurtures the child till she gives birth to it. The process of birth brings the child from the inside world to the outside world.

Vedic astrology assigns god Yama as the ruling deity of Bharani nakshatra. Yama deals with the affairs related to death and he assigns us new life forms, based on our karmas. It means a soul stays at places assigned by Yama, after it leaves a body and before it enters a new body. Hence Yama deals with such transitional phases of each soul. One such soul then enters the womb at an appropriate time and it embraces a new body. The child stays inside its mother for some time and it then comes out in the outer world, through her vagina. Hence this soul goes through one more transition from womb to the outer world.

It means Bharani nakshatra has a lot to do with transition. People recognize and interact with a child after it is born and they are not able to see the transitions it has gone through, before coming to their world. Hence Bharani nakshatra deals with all such phenomena where some processes go on for long periods of time, hidden from the world and they then suddenly become visible. More and more lava is built inside a volcano and one day, it erupts. We are not able to see the phase when lava is built and we only see it once it erupts.

A seed is hidden inside earth in the dark for long periods of time. It undergoes many changes and then one day, it erupts. Here again, we are able to see the plant and we are not able to see the seed growing into a plant. Hence Bharani nakshatra is associated with hidden processes and mysteries. All such processes not only represent transitions but they are also extreme. The birth of a child is an extreme event as a new life has emerged. Hence people celebrate. The eruption of a volcano is also an extreme event, though people may suffer due to this extreme.

Therefore, extreme is another characteristic associated with Bharani nakshatra. In fact, characteristics like being extreme and going through transitions form the core of Bharani nakshatra. Such extremes may be good or bad, like the birth of a child or eruption of a volcano. Through these extremes, some type of balance is likely to be achieved or restored, though this balance may not be permanent. A child brings balance in the sense that with people dying every day, we need more life to maintain the balance between life and death.

However, the balance provided by this child is temporary as it too will die after some years. A new plant tries to maintain balance in the ecosystem though for a short period of time. A volcano erupts so that some balance may be achieved inside. However, more lava is built over years and the balance is disturbed again. Hence the balance represented by Bharani nakshatra is not the final balance and it is more like a temporary one. This is where it connects to the word transition.

It means Bharani tries to balance out through transitions, though the ultimate balance may not be achieved by this nakshatra. Hence Bharani should be seen as a nakshatra which tries to achieve balance through transitions and not as a nakshatra which actually achieves such balance. In other words, Bharani nakshatra represents the acts of achieving or restoring balance.

Vedic astrology assigns Venus as the planetary ruler of Bharani nakshatra. All four quarters of this nakshatra fall in Aries. The influences of Venus and Mars add characteristics like creativity, an urge to reproduce, appreciation for beautiful things, attraction towards the opposite sex, attraction from the opposite sex, loads of energy and some other characteristics to Bharani nakshatra. The influence of Yama adds characteristics like dutifulness, discipline, harshness, ferocity, cruelty, the ability to keep moving during adverse circumstances and some other characteristics to Bharani nakshatra. Yama has to be disciplined, harsh, fierce and cruel at times; in order to do justice to his duty.

Due to impact of Venus, Bharani natives may be creative and they may be found engaging in various types of creative fields, depending on their overall horoscopes. Bharani nakshatra also adds characteristics like discipline, intensity, strong headedness, honesty, outspokenness, bravery, fearlessness and strong sense of duty to natives under its strong influence.

Bharani nakshatra also renders characteristics like the ability to stay unaffected by adverse circumstances, to do whatever it takes to finish the job at hand and to keep moving despite hurdles or difficult circumstances. Due to these characteristics, Bharani natives may prove more dependable than Ashwini natives, since the latter type has a marked tendency to leave jobs unfinished.

Bharani nakshatra exhibits a number of characteristics. However, different natives may embrace different characteristics, depending on placements of various planets in this nakshatra, as well as on their overall horoscopes. Looking at planets among navagraha; Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Ketu may perform very well in Bharani nakshatra, when supported by overall horoscope. Moon, Venus, Mercury and Rahu may perform well in Bharani nakshatra, when supported by overall horoscope. Saturn is debilitated in Aries. However, it may perform better in Bharani nakshatra, compared to its performance in Ashwini. Placements of malefic planets in Bharani nakshatra may cause a number of problems for the native, depending on his overall horoscope.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Bharani nakshatra may be seen practicing as police officers, army officers, naval officers, air force officers, private security guards; doctors, engineers, lawyers, IT professionals, software developers, fire fighters, actors, singers, dancers, writers, musicians, sportsmen, athletes, politicians, professionals dealing in match making services, matrimonial services, dating services, travel industry, tobacco industry, liquor industry, aviation industry, hotel industry, movie industry, music industry, media industry, financial sector, life insurance agencies, private security providing agencies and many other types of professionals; depending on their overall horoscopes.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Bharani is considered as a balanced and fierce nakshatra. It is considered as a female nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Shudra Varna and earth element to Bharani nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Bharani is Manava and the Guna assigned to it is Rajasic. It is a downward nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is Elephant.

Ashwini Nakshatra

Ashwini nakshatra is the first among 27 nakshatras. All four quarters of this nakshatra fall in Aries. The literal meaning of the word Ashwini is ‘one who possesses horses’, ‘one who tames horses’ or ‘horse like’.

Vedic astrology assigns the symbol of a horse’s head to Ashwini nakshatra. Ashwini Kumaras are assigned as the ruling deities of this nakshatra. They are celestial twins and they are called the gods of medicine in Vedic mythology. They are often seen riding on horsebacks to go to people who need their help. Ashwini Kumaras possess characteristics like helpfulness, truthfulness, youthfulness, charm, elegance, extravagance and magical healing abilities. All these characteristics are relayed through Ashwini nakshatra.

As can be seen, horses have close relationship with Ashwini nakshatra. Horses are strong, muscular, swift, loyal, stubborn, nervous and sturdy creatures. All these characteristics find expression through Ashwini nakshatra. Horses were used for travel. Hence Ashwini nakshatra has liking for all types of travels. Ketu is the ruling planet of Ashwini nakshatra. All four quarters of Ashwini nakshatra fall in Aries. Characteristics of Ketu like new beginnings and initiatives are relayed through Ashwini nakshatra. Mars and Aries add energy, fire, aggression, initiative, courage and impulsiveness to Ashwini.

The astrological or the karmic playground enclosing 360 degrees features a journey; the journey of karmas, the journey of planets, the journey of desires, the journey of good and evil; and the journey to liberation. This journey begins with the beginning of Aries or to be more specific; with the beginning of Ashwini nakshatra. Therefore, Ashwini nakshatra can be considered as that point in time when the mankind has just come into existence and it is trying to figure out the basic elements as well as the basic details which are necessary for survival.

The beginning stages are generally not complex and they are easy. It means what is actually needed is well defined. Ashwini nakshatra represents all these characteristics. It means natives under strong influence of Ashwini nakshatra are generally the most straight forward and clear type of natives among all native types. Just like the first humans knew what they wanted for survival and they aimed for such things without any pretences or diplomatic covers; Ashwini natives know what they want and they go for such things, in the most primal manner.

It means Ashwini natives may not believe in beating around the bush or making pretences. They may be outright in their approach and outspoken in their speech. This may look bad in the sense that they may often end up hurting other people. However, it is good in the sense that they are naive, innocent and clear like children or like the first humans. Therefore, Ashwini natives may look too straightforward at times; they are generally clean from within.

For example, if such natives don’t like a quality or an act of yours; they may say so right in your face. This may not only make them look offensive in some cases; it makes them honest also. Even when they like a quality or act of yours; they may give you the due credit. It means these natives may be trustworthy and they may prove valuable for you, if you are evolved enough to handle the good and the bad about you. A diplomatic friend on the other hand may keep praising you even when you are wrong. This practice of his reduces your chances of improving yourself; since he may always make you feel that everything about you is already good.

When the first humans were born, they had to depend on characteristics like vigour, bravery, courage, the ability to take risks, competitive spirit and other such characteristics in order to ensure their survivals. During those times, primal methods of hunting were used as nothing else was available and hence, these characteristics were most required for survival. Ashwini nakshatra embraces all these characteristics and natives under strong influence of this nakshatra are generally loaded with courage, bravery, competitive spirit and other characteristics mentioned earlier. For them, the hunt is always on.

Hence Ashwini natives may be fit to achieve success in defence services of every type, various types of sports and competitions; sports which make use of horses like horse racing and polo; and other such sports or fields of profession where such characteristics are valued. Just like the first humans invented a number of new things and concepts for survival; Ashwini natives may be good at being pioneers in many spheres of life. They may take pride in new adventures, new journeys; new challenges and almost in anything new.

Ashwini natives may possess good healing abilities and they may engage in professions related to various types of healing, depending on their overall horoscopes. Hence these natives may heal people on various levels like on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. Therefore, natives under strong influence of Ashwini nakshatra may practice as doctors of all types, consultants, therapists, psychiatrists, healers of various types, astrologers, tantrics, psychics, spiritual gurus and other likewise professionals.

Since Ashwini nakshatra falls in the sign of Aries which is the most energetic sign among all zodiac signs, it may bless the natives under its strong influence with loads of energy. Such energy may help them achieve success in defence services, various types of sports and in many other spheres. However, the same energy may often become too much for them to handle. As a result, Ashwini natives may come up as impulsive, adamant, impatient, stubborn and rash.

Moving on, Ashwini nakshatra may render good sense of health, fitness and medicine to the natives under its strong influence. As a result, Ashwini natives may achieve success as fitness trainers, coaches, doctors, dieticians, physicians and other such professionals who deal in the sphere of health, fitness and medicine.

Though a nakshatra may try to render a number of characteristics to a native under its influence, not all the characteristics are likely to be forwarded to such native; due to planetary intervention. Likewise, Ashwini nakshatra may try to render all the aforementioned characteristics to a native under its influence. However, the native may receive or use only those characteristics, which are allowed by the planet or planets placed in this nakshatra as well as by his overall horoscope. For example, If Mars is placed in the first house of a horoscope in Ashwini nakshatra, the native may be brave, courageous and he may possess other such characteristics which can make him fit for defence services.

However, if Mars is placed in the eleventh house in Ashwini nakshatra, the native may or may not be physically brave, depending on his overall horoscope. Such native may engage in business and he may have an aggressive approach or a brave and courageous approach in business. It means he may not be afraid of taking risks and he may feel comfortable taking on his competitors or rivals in business. Likewise, the characteristics exhibited by the native may be different than the ones originally meant by Ashwini nakshatra, depending on the placement of Mars in it, in various houses of horoscope as well as on the overall horoscope.

Ashwini nakshatra exhibits a number of characteristics. However, different natives may embrace different characteristics, depending on placements of various planets in this nakshatra, as well as on their overall horoscopes. Looking at planets among navagraha; Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Ketu may perform very well in Ashwini, when supported by overall horoscope. Moon, Venus, Mercury and Rahu may perform well in Ashwini; when placed in favorable navamshas and supported by overall horoscope. Saturn is not comfortable with the energy of Ashwini. Placements of malefic planets in Ashwini may cause a number of problems for the native, depending on his overall horoscope.

Looking at professions, natives under strong influence of Ashwini nakshatra may be seen practicing as army officers, police officers, naval officers, air force officers and other defence officers; sportsmen, doctors, actors, dancers, singers, musicians, writers, explorers, researchers, astrologers, tantrics, healers, psychics, fire fighters, pioneers in various fields; professional dealing in fitness industry, medical field, engineering field, information and technology, travel industry, pharmaceutical industry, professions related to horses, cars and especially the ones which run very fast, aviation industry and many other types of professionals; depending on their overall horoscopes.

Taking an example, if a benefic combination of Mars, Mercury and Rahu is placed in the tenth house of a horoscope in Aries and a couple of these planets are placed in Ashwini; the native may become an air force officer, provided the rest of his horoscope is supportive. Such native may be well recognized for his command over the fastest, the trickiest and the most dangerous moves in his field; and he may complete a number of important and dangerous missions for his country.

Let’s look at some other facts associated with this nakshatra. Ashwini is considered as an active and quick nakshatra. It is considered as a male nakshatra. Vedic astrology assigns Vaishya Varna and earth element to Ashwini nakshatra. The Gana assigned to Ashwini is Deva and the Guna assigned to it is Sattwic. It is a level nakshatra and its Yoni or animal symbol is Horse.
