Article 158

The tenth house of horoscope represents profession, reputation, public image, visibility, recognition and authority among other things. Pitra Dosh formed in the tenth house may cause damage to the significances of this house as well as to those of the planets involved in the formation of this defect.

Suppose benefic Sun and malefic Ketu form Pitra Dosh in the tenth house of a horoscope in Cancer. Sun represents the eleventh house in this horoscope. Both Sun and Ketu are not strong in the sign of Cancer.

Through its general as well as specific significances; Sun represents profession, financial gains, friends, associates, networks, immunity, courage, confidence, intelligence, creativity, father and the ability to produce children in case of male natives; among other things. Ketu represents delays, losses, destruction, mysteries, the occult, unfortunate events and diseases among other things. Hence such Pitra Dosh may create problems related to health, father, children, profession, finances, reputation and friends; among many other things.

The type and quantum of these problems depend on the strength of such Pitra Dosh as well as on the overall horoscope of the native. The strength of such Pitra Dosh depends on the placements of Sun and Ketu in various nakshatras as well as navamshas within the sign of Cancer. Apart from this, the influences of benefic and malefic planets on Sun and Ketu; as well as the running times may also affect the strength of such Pitra Dosh. Let’s look into these factors.

Let’s start with nakshatras. The sign of Cancer features three nakshatras; Punarvasu, Pushya and Ashlesha. When Sun and Ketu are placed in Punarvasu, the problems may be significant or serious; especially those related to profession, finances, father and children. When Sun is placed in Punarvasu and Ketu is in Pushya, the problems may be significant, serious or very serious; especially those related to profession and reputation. When Sun is placed in Punarvasu and Ketu is in Ashlesha, the problems may be serious or very serious; and they may affect all spheres covered by such Pitra Dosh.

When Sun is placed in Pushya and Ketu is in Punarvasu, the problems may be significant or serious; especially those related to children, father and profession. When Sun and Ketu are placed in Pushya, the problems may be significant or serious; especially those related to profession, father and children. When Sun is placed in Pushya and Ketu is placed in Ashlesha, the problems may be serious or very serious; especially those related to children, profession, finances and reputation.

When Sun is placed in Ashlesha and Ketu is in Punarvasu, the problems may be significant or serious, especially those related to profession, reputation, father and children. When Sun is placed in Ashlesha and Ketu is in Pushya, the problems may be significant or serious; especially those related to children, profession, father and finances. When Sun and Ketu are placed in Ashlesha, the problems may be serious or very serious; and they may reflect through all the spheres covered by such Pitra Dosh.

Looking at navamshas, the sign of Cancer features 9 navamshas; ranging from Cancer to Pisces. Within Cancer; Sun and Ketu may form 81 types of Pitra Dosh by virtue of their placements in various navamshas. Let’s discuss some of these combinations.

When Sun is placed in Leo or Sagittarius navamsha and Ketu is placed in Cancer, Virgo or Libra navamsha; the problems may be significant. If Sun is placed in Leo or Sagittarius navamsha and Ketu is placed in Leo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius or Pisces navamsha; the problems may be significant or serious. Within these combinations; when both Sun and Ketu are placed in Sagittarius navamsha; the problems may become very serious.

When Sun is placed in Cancer, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Capricorn, Aquarius or Pisces navamsha and Ketu is placed in Cancer, Virgo or Libra navamsha; the problems may be serious or very serious. When Sun is placed in Cancer, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Capricorn, Aquarius or Pisces navamsha and Ketu is placed in Leo, Scorpio, Sagittarius or Capricorn navamsha; the problems may be serious or very serious. Within these combinations; when Sun is placed in Virgo or Pisces navamsha and Ketu is placed in Leo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius or Pisces navamsha; the problems may become very serious.

When Sun is placed in Libra, Aquarius or Pisces navamsha and Ketu is placed in Sagittarius or Pisces navamsha; the problems may be very serious or destructive. Looking at the worst possible combination, when Sun and Ketu are placed in Pisces navamsha; such Pitra Dosh may prove destructive. Likewise, when Sun is placed in Libra and Ketu is placed in Pisces; such Pitra Dosh may prove very serious or destructive.

Though Ketu is exalted in Scorpio as well as Pisces; the most troublesome combinations may be formed when Ketu is placed in Pisces. This is because Scorpio navamsha fall in Pushya nakshatra which is a kind and benevolent nakshatra; and it generally tends to stay away from destructive actions. When a kind, benevolent or tender nakshatra is occupied by a malefic planet; such malefic planet may still create serious or very serious problems by misusing the energy of such nakshatra. However, such problems may be less or far less troublesome in comparison to the ones created by such malefic planet; when it is placed in a harsh, cruel, selfish, violent, fierce or destructive nakshatra.

Hence the placement of Ketu in Pushya nakshatra may not cause destructive type of problems and the same holds for the placement of Ketu in Punarvasu nakshatra. When it comes to Ashlesha, it is a difficult to handle nakshatra and placement of malefic planets in this nakshatra may create problems which may be very serious or destructive. Within this nakshatra, Ketu is exalted in Pisces navamsha. Hence Ketu may cause maximum destruction when placed in the Pisces navamsha of Ashlesha nakshatra; within the sign of Cancer.

Though such Pitra Dosh may create serious or very serious problems related to various spheres; much depends on the overall horoscope. Whichever of these spheres are protected by benefic planets; they may suffer less. Whichever spheres are neither protected nor troubled; they may suffer significantly. The spheres which are troubled by other malefic planets also, may suffer the most.

Apart from these problems, the native may have to face court cases, penalties and even punishment through his field of profession. In an extreme case of this type; such malefic combination of multiple counts of Pitra Dosh can make the native spend more than 10 years of his life in prison. If the rest of the horoscope is also malefic; the native may serve life sentence, he may face death penalty or he may get killed in an encounter or through planned murder. Taking an example, if a combination of Venus and Mars is placed in the third house of this horoscope in Sagittarius in Moola nakshatra; Moon is placed in the sixth house in Pisces and Saturn is placed in the second house in Scorpio, the native may get killed before his age of 35 years.

Let’s now discuss Pitra Dosh formed due to affliction to the lord of the ninth house in the tenth house of a horoscope. Suppose a malefic combination of Mercury and Jupiter forms Pitra Dosh in the tenth house of a horoscope in Libra. Capricorn rises as ascendant in this case. Mercury represents the sixth and ninth house whereas Jupiter represents the third and twelfth house. Jupiter is highly malefic in this case; and Mercury is partly negative and significantly positive. Mercury is stronger than Jupiter in Libra.

Through its general as well as specific significances; Mercury represents cleverness, intellect, analytical abilities, speech, communication, mathematical skills, father, guru, religion, spiritual growth, luck factor, diseases, disputes, disagreements, arguments, litigations, court cases, financial debts, enemies and crime among other things. Through its general and specific significances; Jupiter represents husband, guru, religion, spiritual growth, profession, siblings, colleagues, courage, losses, delays, addictions, confusions, vices, illusions and many other things.

Hence such Pitra Dosh may create problems related to father, religion, guru, spiritual growth, profession, siblings, luck factor and health among other things. The type and quantum of such problems depend on the strength of such Pitra Dosh, on the overall horoscope as well as on the running times. The strength of such Pitra Dosh depends on the placements of Mercury and Jupiter in various nakshatras and navamshas within the sign of Libra. Apart from this, influences of other benefic and malefic planets and the running times also affect the strength of this defect.

Let’s look into these factors and let’s start with nakshatras. The sign of Libra features three nakshatras; Chitra, Swati and Vishakha. When Mercury and Jupiter are placed in Chitra nakshatra, the problems may be significant or serious; especially those related to father, health and profession. When Mercury is placed in Chitra and Jupiter is in Swati; the problems may be significant or serious; especially those related to profession and health. When Mercury is placed in Chitra and Jupiter is in Vishakha, the problems may be serious or very serious; especially those related to father, profession, siblings, spiritual growth and health.

When Mercury is placed in Swati and Jupiter is in Chitra, the problems may be significant or serious; especially those related to profession, father, health and spiritual growth. When both Mercury and Jupiter are placed in Swati, the problems may be significant, serious or very serious; and they may reflect through all the spheres covered by such Pitra Dosh. When Mercury is in Swati and Jupiter is in Vishakha, the problems may be serious or very serious; and they may hit all spheres covered by such Pitra Dosh.

When Mercury is placed in Vishakha and Jupiter is in Chitra, the problems may be serious or very serious; especially those related to profession, health, and spiritual growth. When Mercury is in Vishakha and Jupiter is in Swati, the problems may be significant or serious; and they may reflect through all spheres covered by such Pitra Dosh. When both Mercury and Jupiter are placed in Vishakha, the problems may be serious or very serious; related to all spheres covered by such Pitra Dosh.

Looking at navamshas, the sign of Libra features 9 navamshas, ranging from Libra to Gemini. Mercury and Jupiter can form 81 combination of Pitra Dosh in various navamshas within the sign of Libra. Let’s discuss some of these combinations.

When Mercury is placed in Libra, Capricorn, Aquarius, Taurus or Gemini navamsha and Jupiter is placed in Libra, Capricorn, Aquarius, Taurus or Gemini navamsha; the problems may be significant or serious. When Mercury is placed in Libra, Capricorn, Aquarius, Taurus or Gemini navamsha and Jupiter is placed in Scorpio, Sagittarius, Pisces or Aries navamsha; the problems may be serious or very serious.

When Mercury is placed in Scorpio, Sagittarius, Pisces or Aries navamsha and Jupiter is placed in Libra, Capricorn, Aquarius, Taurus or Gemini navamsha; the problems may be significant, serious or very serious. When Mercury is placed in Scorpio, Sagittarius, Pisces or Aries navamsha and Jupiter is placed in Scorpio, Sagittarius, Pisces or Aries navamsha; the problems may be serious or very serious.

Among these combination, the one with Mercury in Pisces and Jupiter in Aries navamsha may prove destructive. Aries navamsha is ruled by the first part of Vishakha which is a nakshatra ruled by Jupiter. Vishakha is a fierce nakshatra and it has tendency to engage in destructive or troublesome acts. Jupiter is strong in Aries navamsha and this sign provides sufficient energy to create problems. On the other hand, Mercury is debilitated in Pisces and hence it is weak. As a result, this combination may create very serious problems or it may prove destructive.
