Taking another example, suppose debilitated Jupiter is placed in the eighth house of a horoscope in Capricorn, in Capricorn navamsha of Uttarashada nakshatra. Jupiter rules the tenth house and it is debilitated in its sign of placement as well as in navamsha. Hence strong Dur Yoga may be formed in this case. Such native may not achieve much success in profession; unless strong benefic planets interfere.

Let’s look at influences of other planets as well as the overall theme of horoscope on this yoga. Suppose in the same horoscope; benefic Moon is placed in the tenth house in Pisces; and a benefic combination of Sun and Mercury forms Budhaditya Yoga in the third house in Leo. The tenth and third house represent profession and both these houses are empowered by benefic planets. Hence the strength of Dur Yoga may be reduced a lot. Accordingly, the native may not suffer much due to Dur Yoga. On the contrary, he may witness good results related to profession.

Let’s see what may happen when this yoga is influenced by malefic planets. Suppose debilitated Jupiter in the eighth house of a horoscope forms Dur Yoga. Suppose malefic exalted Mars and Venus are also placed in the eighth house in Capricorn with Jupiter; and Saturn is placed in the second house in Cancer. Mars is highly malefic whereas Venus is partly benefic and partly malefic in the horoscope. Saturn is also partly benefic and partly malefic.

Mars is very strong, Venus is strong and Jupiter is very weak in Capricorn. Strong malefic influence of Mars may turn Venus more malefic. The combined malefic influence of these two planets may cause serious damage to Jupiter and it may turn significantly malefic. Saturn is not comfortable in Cancer and it receives a lot of negative energy from the planets in the eighth house. Hence it may turn much more malefic. The concept of benefic planets turning malefic due to influences of malefic planets has been explained in Manglik Dosh section of the book ‘Match Making and Manglik Dosh (Revised Edition)’.

As the combined result of all these factors; the native may suffer a lot in many spheres of his life and the sphere of profession may be hit severely. Suppose a combination of Sun and Mercury is placed in the sixth house in Scorpio, malefic Rahu is placed in the fourth house in Virgo, malefic Ketu is placed in the tenth house in Pisces and Moon is placed in the second house in Cancer, with Saturn. The overall horoscope may become malefic in this case. Hence the native may not settle in profession throughout his life and he may have to live in poverty; depending on the finer factors.
