In Vedic astrology, a planet is said to be combust when it comes within a particular distance from the Sun. For example, if Moon becomes very close to the Sun in a horoscope, it becomes combust and an alphabet “c” is written in front of Moon while showing horoscope details for that particular horoscope. In the same way, all the other planets become combust if they come within a certain range of closeness to the Sun. When a planet becomes combust, it may become comparatively weaker by combustion and hence it may become unable to protect its significances fully; and produce proper results like a planet which is not combust. So the study of combust planets becomes very important in order to make predictions about the significances ruled by these planets in different horoscopes.
However there are many other factors which may affect the positive or negative, strong or weak results given by a combust planet in a horoscope. For example, the presence of benefic combust Moon with benefic Sun, the presence of benefic combust Moon with malefic Sun, the presence of malefic combust Moon with benefic Sun and the presence of malefic combust Moon with malefic Sun; all these combinations may produce various types of benefic or malefic effects for the native under their influence. Such results may further differ depending on the house of placement of such combinations of Sun and Moon, as well as depending on the overall tone of the horoscope in question. We will now discuss some commonly occurring positive and negative effects when combust Moon is placed in various houses of a horoscope, along with Sun. For the sake of better understanding, I will mention the effects produced by combust Moon when placed with Sun in various houses of a horoscope, as well as in various signs.
Combust Moon in 1st House in Aries : When a combination of combust Moon and exalted Sun is placed in the first house of a horoscope, Sun is likely to dominate this combination as Sun is exalted in the sign of Aries and hence it gains great strength when placed in this sign. Since Sun becomes the strongest in the sign of Aries and Moon is not as strong as Sun in this sign, the results produced by this combination are likely to be ruled by Sun and not by Moon. Hence the fate of this combination is likely to be decided by the working nature of Sun in this horoscope though Moon may definitely have its due role in such results. When benefic combust Moon is placed in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Aries along with benefic exalted Sun, this combination may bless the native under its impact with good results related to health, marriage, profession, finances, fame, reputation, authority and many other types of good results. Hence the natives under the effect of this benefic combination may feel some of these good results, depending on the overall tone of their horoscopes.
The presence of combust Moon in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Aries can bless some natives with success through the profession of education whereas some other natives under the impact of this benefic combination may achieve posts of power and authority in the house of government through jobs or through politics depending on their overall horoscopes. For example, if benefic combust Moon is placed in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Aries along with benefic exalted Sun, benefic exalted Jupiter is placed in the fourth house of this horoscope in the sign of Cancer and benefic exalted Mars is placed in the tenth house of this horoscope in the sign of Capricorn, the native may get such authority through police force. The native under the combined effect of such benefic combust Moon and other benefic planets may get selected for a post of authority in the police force and he may earn good amount of success and recognition through this field of profession.
At the same time, if benefic Rahu is placed in the sixth house of this horoscope in the sign of Virgo, benefic Ketu is placed in the twelfth house of this horoscope in the sign of Pisces and benefic Saturn is placed in the fourth house of this horoscope in the sign of Cancer along with benefic exalted Jupiter, the results may become even better. The native blessed by such benefic combust Moon and all other benefic planets mentioned in this example may get selected for the highest possible direct rank in police force, by virtue of success in some competitive exams held for selection in police force. The combined effect of such benefic combust Moon and other benefic planets may bless the native with a good career as a police officer and the native may achieve even better results as more benefic planets add to various houses in this horoscope.
However if this combination of combust Moon and exalted Sun placed in the first house of a horoscope turns malefic, the native under the effect of this combination may have to suffer from problems related to marriage, profession, children, health and many other types of problems. Such malefic combination can especially prove bad for the marriage of the native under its impact and it can cause many problems in the marriage of such native. The presence of this malefic combination of combust Moon and exalted Sun in the first house of a horoscope generally doesn’t delay the marriage of the native under its impact, and it is more likely to cause many problems in such marriage, after it has taken place. The native under the impact of such malefic combination of combust Moon and exalted Sun may have problems connecting to his wife in a proper way and he may not have a healthy equation with his wife. Such native may not trust his wife completely and he may tend to hide many things from her, though the wife of this native may be very well worthy of being trusted.
The native under the combined effect of such malefic combination of combust Moon and exalted Sun may have to face many problems in his marriage due to his inability to trust his wife and such problems may intensify if there are other malefic influences in his horoscope. In extreme cases when supported by other malefic influences in a horoscope, this malefic combination of combust Moon and exalted Sun can break one or even two marriages of this native, primarily due to his inability to understand the whole concept of marriage as a union of two people. For example, if a malefic combination of combust Moon, exalted Sun and Mercury is placed in the first house of a horoscope in the sign of Aries, the native may have to face a broken marriage, unless there is some strong marriage saving planet in his horoscope.
